Matthew's musical ventures flourished in school bands, where he played an integral role in the wind ensemble and jazz band during high school. Beyond drums, he's self-taught in guitar, piano, ukulele, and bass, making him an approachable instructor for beginners.

Currently immersed in jazz drum set studies at Wayne State University, Matthew's passion for rhythm knows no bounds. You can catch his dynamic drumming at various venues across Detroit, from jazz clubs and bars to churches. Ian Blunden is a versatile music educator and jazz musician based in Detroit, Michigan. With a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Wayne State University, Ian brings his passion for music to the students at the Grosse Pointe Music Academy Clinton Township Location. He offers lessons in guitar, bass guitar, piano and drums, and tailors his approach to meet the needs and interests of each student. Ian's experience performing at historic venues such as Cliff Bells, The Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe, and the Detroit Jazz Festival, as well as his experience working with professional musicians across the state, has solidified his skills as a versatile musician and educator.
